This small Netflix original has all the trademarks of the company productions and usually they are enough to ruin every movie or show, however, this time, they didn't...
Don't get me wrong, this is not a masterpiece nor a guide to greatness, but it has a good central story that is properly embodied by the characters.
I did not expect a "serious" performance by the "funny and weird" girl from the office, she was right on spot. So yeah good casting decision.💪
The movie, in essence, tells a story of a 35 yo woman that goes on an organized hiking trip with some strangers to try to surpass her past problems and turn her life around.
So, we have a real woman with real problems as the protagonist, to which i say Thank God.
I know it may sound stupid but it's refreshing to have "real" and "normal" women as protagonists.👑
She is accompanied by our dear Yellowstone rancher Luke Grimes and he's playing a well layered yet simple role in this pseudo rom-com.✅
The other characters are the usual stereotypes that you can find everywhere...🙃
All of this is mixed with some mildly funny jokes and #relatable situations.😒
It's worth a watch if you have some free time.💪
How Would I Fix It ?
i like the core characters and concept so i would leave that as it is, however i would trim the supporting cast in half and give them less stereotyped roles.
get the ball rolling before the 30 minutes mark, that should help it have more rhythm and momentum.⌛
get a good comedian to write some decent jokes 🤣
