So, we have Gina Rodriguez as the lead, Tom Ellis and Damon Wayans Jr as the supporting.👏

Definitely three heavy hitters, especially Ms Rodriguez, as we all know she's a really amazing actress.💯

What can go wrong with such a good trio?🫠

Well...

Everything apparently.😁

Since it's on Netflix I'm going to talk a little bit about the plot so SPOILER AHEAD.👇

We are presented with our protagonist helping her friend pick up a woman at a bar, then we understand that this small group of friends have "plays" to pick up chicks and dudes.

She is sort of the boss of the pack and it's implied that she's the best one when it comes to picking up dudes.

So yeah they've just admitted without shame that our protagonist is kind of a slut...🙃

She "falls" for our super cool and interesting world famous writer (Tom Ellis) and decides to get him as a boyfriend.

She obviously succeeds in her intent and get the relationship that she thought she wanted only to realize that he isn't the right fit for her and she's actually in love with Damon who plays her best friend.

To put it really bluntly we basically have:

A slutty girl who gets a really nice and successful dude as her boyfriend only to cut him as soon as he tells her that her writing isn't good (she's a sports journalist) to get together with her best friend after they've discussed about the fact that Tom wasn't right for her, only because he wasn't into the same things as she was. 👍

And by the way her best friend was a sucker for her throughout the whole movie in almost a demeaning way...

So yeah, we have a classic contemporary romcom...

Just watch the new Grand Tour special on Prime.

That's pure 🔥🔥🔥

How Would I Fix It ?

• At least give us a good reason for the first relationship to end, like really make Tom's characters abusive or straight up toxic and make her friend realize that before everybody else and warn her in a fight where she defends her boyfriend and he tries to open her eyes to the reality of the relationship. 🎬

• For the love of god restructure the script in a way where she doesn't appear like a free prostitute.
