The Recruit S2

Solid 👊

When I first saw the trailer for the second season, I thought they had lost the serious component that made the first season so engaging. It seemed like it would be hard to do a good job without it.

Fortunately, they kept it, though maybe toned it down a bit. They opted for a more playful tone, which isn't a bad thing at all, especially with the settings in places like Tokyo, Japan, China, and South Korea. The city locations are just so cute!

I'm not a fan of the new girl introduced for our protagonist; it feels unnecessary and doesn't really add to the squad. However, it's not poorly thought out, and it does allow the show to remain gripping, leaving plenty of question marks for Season 3, which, in my humble opinion, will happen because, well, this season did well. Maybe they were a little cheap on the marketing though.

This was one of the really good Netflix series. A smart idea would have been to promote it more aggressively. Maybe they did; I don't know. I saw some ads and promotions for it. I also really like how the writers crafted the dialogue to sound like something people in those positions would actually say. It might sound obvious, but many shows don't manage this well, so bonus points for that in the second season. I'm in love with it.

Compared to the first season, which I'd rate an 8, this season scores a 7.5. The dynamic between the main protagonist and the Russian lady was really cool to watch, which was one of the most interesting aspects of the show.

Yeah, I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes spy stuff.

How Would I Fix It ?
